The beautiful Wildflower Poncho is designed by the very talented Esthermay Bentley-Goossen from the United States. I asked Esthermay to tell us more about herself and her inspiration to design the beautiful Wildflower poncho. After her writing, you will find all the relevant information and links to follow the CAL which commences 1 August 2019.

Here is Esthermay:
"Like all designers, I see ideas and observe the beauty of pattern and color everywhere. The inspiration for the Wildflower Poncho/Wrap originally came to me while visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in Wyoming, USA. On average there are only about 60 continuous frost-free days a year in this part of the United States so when wildflowers bloom, they are plentiful. And so very beautiful!
The wildflower squares are the showpiece of this design. The crocheted petals unfold into playful squares, join with a simple stitch pattern, and create an unconventional pull-over poncho. The squares reflect the eccentric beauty of wildflowers seen not only in the western United States, but everywhere around the globe. Whether the endangered ‘Fairy Elephant’s Feet’ of the South African grasslands or the Wild Chives of the American West, wildflowers truly do symbolize the beauty of nature.
The asymmetrical design of the poncho also reflects the nature and environment of wildflowers. From the sagebrush valleys of North America to the highest summits of Europe, there is nothing ordinary or centered in the landscape of wildflowers. The asymmetrical design of the poncho echoes the varying terrain around the world where wildflowers are found. The irregular construct of the poncho is a stylish change-up on the traditional poncho giving it the look of both a wrap and a poncho. The one-size fits all pattern also has customizable length and neck opening. It’s a perfect cover-up for both chilly evenings and formal occasions.
Because the design highlights so much of nature, the opportunity to coordinate with SA Yarnies is ideal. The luxurious look and feel of the 50% Cotton/50% Bamboo Eco-Fusion is just the right complement to the poncho’s design. A natural fiber soft enough to be worn directly against the skin makes the Wildflower Poncho/Wrap even more alluring.
I am honored and excited to debut the Wildflower Poncho/Wrap as a Kit & Crochet-Along. All designs from Selah’s Treasures® are my own. I have been crocheting and designing for over 40 years. My passion is to design beautiful accessories with my own unique attention to detail. My goal is to create patterns that are easy to follow so even beginners can enjoy the challenge.
